Ogunquit Maine
Acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, signed in the lower right corner. Hanging hardware is included.
I was inspired to paint this piece after a hike on Ogunquit, Maine's iconic Marginal Way, a winding coastal path that intimately hugs the curves of the Atlantic Ocean."
This is a charming, landscape painting depicting a residential coastal scene, in Ogunquit Maine the style is Post-Impressionistic or Fauvist, with thick, visible brushstrokes and a somewhat flattened perspective, though the composition is clearly defined.
The palette is rich and somewhat subdued. The golden-yellow and rust tones of the boulders and roofs contrast nicely with the deep greens and blues of the grass and trees. The sky is a muted mix of pale pink, lavender, and grey, suggesting either dusk or dawn, which casts a soft, diffused light over the entire scene.
